Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is a Maharatna PSU under MOP&NG, Govt. of India. Also BPCL is a Fortune 500 company which is also listed under Forbes 2000 listings. We have a network of 24 marketing laboratories spread across India. All the testing laboratories are equipped with latest state of the art test facilities. We are pioneer in India to get NABL accreditation of our Sewree, Mumbai facility as Proficiency Test Provider in petroleum products. Recently we have started producing reference material for petroleum products at our Sewree, Mumbai facility. The reference materials are produced as per ISO : 17034:2016. We have been accredited as first Reference Material Producer in the Country as per ISO:17034:2016 by NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) Constituent board of Quality Council of India an autonomous body under Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion ( Govt. of India) vide No RC-1002.

BPCL RMP is a part of QA Lab, Sewree, Mumbai. QA Lab, Sewree is NABL accredited as per ISO 17025:2005 and is involved in testing petroleum products. Testing laboratory, Proficiency Test provider and Reference Material Producer are located under one roof which enhances the synergy in operation.

What is Reference Material?

Reference material is sufficiently homogeneous and stable material with respect to a measurement process. Reference Material is used for one or more of the following:

• to demonstrate the accuracy of results;
• to calibrate equipment ( Only CRM’s shall be used);
• to monitor laboratory performance;
• to validate methods;
• to enable comparison of methods;

Lubricant (CRM) is certified for the following properties.

• Density at 29.5 deg C by P:16 of IS 1448 / ASTM D 1298
• K.V at 40 deg c/100 deg C by P:25 of IS 1448,ASTM D 445/ASTM D 7042
• COC Flash Point by P :69 of IS 1448 / ASTM D 92
• Pour Point by P:10 of IS 1448 / ASTM D 97

BPCL RMP has MOU with CSIR- NPL ( National Physical laboratory of India ), India’s National Measurement Institute for certifying BPCL Reference Material as BND (Bharatiya Nirdeshak Draviya), Indian reference material.

RMP produced by BPCL under BND has traceability to SI units, which shall have highest level of traceability.

It supports the Make in India initiative of the Govt. of India.

Indian Petroleum Labs needs not depend on foreign Reference material producers. It will save cost, time as well as the requirements in Indian Condition.
