Reaching out to God’s Own Country

BPCL undertakes various CSR initiatives across Kerala, the God’s Own Country. These activities are driven and coordinated by BPCL’s Kochi Refinery which is the largest industrial unit in the State.

As a socially responsible corporate entity, community welfare initiatives of the refinery concentrate on developing the weaker sections of society in important sectors like health, education, water management, housing and women empowerment. In the vicinity, Kochi Refinery has carried out various projects in the CSR thrust areas of BPCL. Educational schemes as Capability Exploration and Enabling Programme have helped school students to understand their innate potential and pursue higher academic performance.

Skill development programmes are organized for empowering unemployed youth and for differently-abled children, there are home based rehabilitation scheme. New and modern facilities have been extended to major Government hospitals and schools in the neighbourhood. Various people intensive small-scheme community development programmes have brought new life for many; be it poor villagers in need of medical treatment; poor students in government schools or differently abled children!

Through these CSR initiatives, we strive for inclusive growth and development of community around through a holistic approach. Be it, enhancing infrastructure of Government Schools and Hospitals. Be it, innovative projects as Marine Ambulance for rescuing fishermen in distress from the sea. Be it, first meal for over 35000 students of the neighborhood of the Refinery and costal Kochi. Be it, bringing light to the lives of children of inter-State laborers through Project Roshini to mainstream these young ones.

First Meal

Breakfast is considered to be the most crucial meal. Government and aided schools give mid-meal to children while many students from poor families do not have a proper breakfast to begin the day. To cater to the deficiency BPCL Kochi Refinery initiated First Meal Scheme in the neighborhood. Later, it was extended to a part of the costal belt of Kochi where this impoverishment has been found.

Through the initiative BPCL has reached out to 35000 students. No wonder, this model is now being emulated in many areas of the State.
