From plant operations to marketing and corporate strategy, Samarth S. Derdekar’s journey at BPCL has been one of continuous learning and diverse experiences. A Mechanical Engineer and Dean’s Medalist from SPJIMR, he joined BPCL in 2007 and has contributed across various functions, gaining a well-rounded perspective of the organisation.
Samarth has been part of the core teams behind several digital initiatives, including HelloBPCL, a mobile super app for BPCL services, and IRIS, the company’s digital nerve centre. Powered by AI and machine learning, IRIS helps in decision-making, prevents equipment failures, enforces safety protocols at our nationwide network of installations and plants, and ensures consistent fuel quality across our Fuel Station network reducing human intervention.
He also contributed to BPCL’s startup initiative and was involved in presenting the company's digital journey at India Energy Week, highlighting India’s progress in the energy sector.
He believes BPCL has given him the opportunity to innovate, collaborate and make a meaningful impact, shaping both his professional path and personal mindset.
