Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (AAQMS)
(AAQMS)
At Kochi Refinery, we have installed nine Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (AAQMS) for continuous monitoring of ambient air quality. Out of the nine, six AAQMS are inside Kochi Refinery premises and three are at the Shore Tank Farm (STF) area, in Puthuvypeen. These stations have been installed in consultation with the Kerala State Pollution Control Board based on the occurrence of maximum ground level concentration and downwind direction. Additionally, ambient air quality data is collected and monitored through NABL approved laboratories periodically as per the National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS). All the heaters are installed with low NOx burners and low sulphur fuels are fired in the heaters to ensure emissions within limits. Emissions from the heaters / boilers are monitored through online analysers and emission data is uploaded on the servers of Central as well as State Pollution Control Boards on a real time basis.
