The India Energy Week (IEW) is a 3-day event that is promoted by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, and backed by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI). The event is focussed on exploring and addressing energy issues and opportunities in India. What makes the India Energy Week (IEW) 2023 more special is that it is the first high-profile event being held in the country since India was awarded the G20 Presidency. This brings the eyes and attention of all the major economies to this event.
What is the purpose of the India Energy Week?
The IEW is a forum that brings together key stakeholders from the energy industry, government, research & development, and other private and public sector players to discuss current trends and challenges in the energy sector. One of India’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) is to achieve net zero emissions by 2070. Furthermore, there is a clear emphasis on moving towards green energy and becoming a bio-economy. The recent Union Budget provides further evidence of India’s commitment to green energy with the allocation of Rs. 35,000 crores for energy transition including a Green Hydrogen Mission.
Let us not forget the government’s stated ambition to make clean and affordable energy to the entire population which is already well underway under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). Through PSUs such as BPCL and IOCL, this scheme has been providing free/subsidised LPG connections to crores of families living below the poverty line.
In the light of these vital initiatives, the IEW 2023 will feature a host of activities, such as panel discussions, keynote speeches, and professional networking opportunities. The end-goal here is to discover areas of mutual concerns and identify potential solutions and opportunities for collaboration. No wonder, the slogan for this year’s event is Growth. Collaboration. Transition.
Who attends the IEW events?
Anyone who is a contributor to the energy value chain can be a participant of the event. One of the key aspects of the forum is to get private (international) energy companies to connect directly with the country’s policy makers and public sector enterprises. This joint focus will aim to find technological and procedural avenues to develop India’s energy infrastructure for a sustainable future.
The event is anticipated to bring together 30K+ energy industry professionals and 650+ companies over the course of 3 days.
Some of the prominent companies participating in the exhibition include:
Apart from the companies, there are almost a dozen countries that will host pavilions showcasing their innovations and achievements in the energy sector. The seminars will include global energy leaders from various countries delivering key-note speeches and sharing pertinent strategies including suggestions for the way forward in this regard.
Where is the IEW 2023 being held?
The location for the India Energy Week 2023 is the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC). The exhibition will take place between 06th Feb 2023 to 08th Feb 2023 (both days included)
