At the prestigious AIMA’s 50th National Management Convention, themed "Vibrant India: Reimagining the Indian Dream," Shri Sukhmal Jain, our Director Marketing, engaged in a profound dialogue alongside Pieter Elbers, CEO of Indigo, and Yezdi Nagporewalla, CEO of KPMG India, on the intriguing topic of "Bigger Better Global: Transforming Indian Aviation."
In this captivating discussion, Shri Jain illuminated the remarkable trajectory of India’s aviation sector, highlighting its impressive rebound to pre-COVID travel levels and the projection of robust growth at an astonishing 7.5-8% CAGR. Underlining the untapped potential of India’s aviation landscape, he pointed out the significant disparity in aircraft-to-human ratios, standing at 1/6th compared to China and a striking 1/60th compared to the USA. These figures underscore the vast scope for growth and development. Furthermore, Shri Jain envisioned India leveraging its strategic geographic advantage, with approximately 65% of the world accessible within a 5-6 hour flight. This, he emphasized, positions India as a promising global travel hub of the future.
Shri Jain also elaborated on Bharat Petroleum’s commitment to the aviation industry. With the enhanced infrastructure of 24 new Aviation Fuelling Stations, 6 intermediate storage locations, cross-country pipelines, automation, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) development, BPCL is committed to serving the needs of the Indian Aviation Industry.
The panel concluded that the growth of Indian aviation is a key cog in India’s economy, providing the necessary connectivity and reach to expand economic horizons. Despite challenges, the market’s immense potential is unearthing, especially as Tier 2 cities evolve into Tier 1s.
With the government’s vision of creating international hubs and aircraft majors considering production facilities in India, the future looks exceptionally bright. With the right policies and steps, India is on the path to making Indian aviation truly bigger, better, and globally significant.
