OUR STATE-OF-THE-ART REFINERY IN KERALA
The BPCL Kochi Refinery, embarked on its journey in 1966 with a capacity of 50,000 barrels per day. Formerly known as Cochin Refineries Limited, the refinery was originally established as a joint venture in collaboration with Phillips Petroleum Corporation, USA. It was later renamed as Kochi Refineries Limited, and today, it is a frontline entity as a unit of the Fortune 500 Oil and Gas Maharatna Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited with a capacity of 3,10,000 barrels per day. Kochi Refinery is located at Ambalamugal, near Kochi in Kerala, and is one of the two Refineries of BPCL, presently having a crude oil refining capacity of 15.5 Million Metric Tonnes per Annum (MMTPA). The product portfolio of the 3,10,000 barrels per day refinery today includes petrochemical feedstocks and specialty products in addition to its range of quality fuels.

With the rising demand for petroleum expected in the coming years, as well as to maintain its competitiveness and profitability in the long run, Kochi Refinery is implementing some ambitious projects.
Energy conservation efforts at the Kochi Refinery receive continuous focus, both in terms of improvement in operations as well as the development of new projects.
At Kochi Refinery, processes are designed for indigenous and imported crude refining.
Efforts are on at the Kochi Refinery to reduce energy consumption and lower costs of production.
Caring for the environment forms the core of all activities at the BPCL Kochi Refinery.
Integrated Refinery Expansion Project (IREP) will see refining capacities increase by 60% from 9.5 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA) currently to 15.5 MMTPA as by far the biggest investment by any company in Kerala.
Kochi Refinery has received numerous awards for excellence in operations, safety and environmental protection.
Kochi Refinery has five AAQMS along the boundaries of the refinery to monitor the level of contaminants in atmosphere.
